A gracious refrain returns between contrasting episodes, giving this movement the character of a conversation continually finding its way home. Bach turns a courtly dance into music of wit, balance, and quiet confidence.
Hahn shapes each return with subtle freshness. Her rhythmic poise and transparent tone make the movement inviting on first hearing while leaving its inner workmanship fully exposed.
